  • The mediant degree of a diatonic scale.
    • Mediant (tonality), a generalization of that concept to refer to the middle interval in a chord, between the root and the fifth, defined in terms of a portion of the fifth.
  • Mediant (just intonation), the interval (a + b)/(c + d) for two ratios a/c and b/d in lowest terms
