460/459, the scanisma or vicewolf comma, is a 23-limit superparticular comma of about 3.77 cents. It forms the difference between 23/17 (vicesimotertial wolf fourth) and 27/20 (classical wolf fourth). It is also the amount by which a stack of 23/18 (the vicesimoterial major third) and 20/17 (the diatismic minor third) exceed 3/2 (the perfect fifth). Tempering it out defines the scanismic temperament, which enables the scanismic chords.

Etymology

The words scanisma and vicewolf were introduced by Xenllium in 2023. The former refers to 460 Scania, the asteroid (itself named for a province of Sweden), and the latter is a contraction of vicesimotertial wolf into a single word.
