A neutral scale is a 7-tone scale that features at least one neutral interval[note 1]. An interval is considered neutral if it falls into an interval region between major and minor, as defined by diatonic categories.

24EDO

The neutral scale (in 24EDO) is a scale that follows this pattern: 0 4 7 10 14 17 21 24.

Or you can write it like this:

0

200

350

500

700

850

1050

1200

7EDO

Since there are only 7 notes, the neutral scale IS the only scale.

All of the steps are equally spaced.

  1. The name "neutral scale" is variously used for different kinds of scales, hence the very broad definition given here.
