Octave stretch or compression
What follows is a comparison of stretched- and compressed-octave 39edo tunings.
- Step size: 30.973 ¢, octave size: 107.9 ¢
Stretching the octave of 39edo by around 8 ¢ results in improved primes NNN, but worse primes NNN. This approximates all harmonics up to 16 within NNN ¢. The tuning 171zpi does this. Because it shares error evenly between 39edo's fifths, it is suited for use as a dual-fifths tuning of 39edo.
