While I think it's safe to say that this page pretty well covers the Diatonic MOSes, I think we should link this page to a related page cataloging some of the more noteworthy muddles that are also called diatonic. After all, it would be great to see what EDOs support these just as is the case for Diatonic MOSes. --Aura (talk) 00:41, 23 March 2021 (UTC) | While I think it's safe to say that this page pretty well covers the Diatonic MOSes, I think we should link this page to a related page cataloging some of the more noteworthy muddles that are also called diatonic. == Broken Page Element ==
This page gives several instances of the error "Lua error in Module:MOS_tunings at line 304: attempt to call field 'parse_search_args' (a nil value)". Anybody know how to fix this? : Strange -- it seems to have fixed itself now. Lucius Chiaraviglio (talk) 22:42, 22 December 2024 (UTC)
== Enharmonic scales ==
There should probably be a name for enharmonic scales. There are actually four possible enharmonic scales which derive from diatonic, these being 7L 12s, 12L 7s, 12L 5s, and 5L 12s. I believe they should be called f-enharmonic (f for flattone), m-enharmonic (m for meantone), p-enharmonic (p for Pythagorean), and s-enharmonic (s for superpyth), respectively.--Overthink (talk) 05:49, 17 January 2026 (UTC)
: Aren't they already named so? —FloraC (talk) 10:49, 17 January 2026 (UTC)
:: Seems like we're most of the way there, but not quite. In 7L 12s it says "Temperaments associated with this scale include flattone, as the flattone enharmonic scale" (basically there but for lack of the abbreviation). In 12L 7s it says "Essentially the entire range of this scale is spanned by various tunings of meantone, as the meantone enharmonic scale" (again basically there but for lack of the abbreviation). In 12L 5s the closest thing I can find is "Temperaments supported by this scale include those under the Pythagorean and schismic families" (nothing exactly homologous to the previous ones). In 5L 12s I do not see any equivalent phrase. Lucius Chiaraviglio (talk) 11:25, 17 January 2026 (UTC)
