What counts as an equivalence interval and what doesn't? FloraC (talk) 02:32, 6 July 2023 (UTC)
: My personal opinion is that any harmonic e.g. 2/1, 3/1 that is listed on the “equal-step tunings” page should count as an equivalence interval.
: I know there is a debate about whether tritave-equivalence, pentave-equivalence, etc. actually exist. Personally, I can’t hear tritave equivalence. I can only hear octave, 4ve, and 8ve equivalence. But even though I can’t hear it, it’s a fact that people have made music using tritave, pentave, etc. equivalence as a theoretical framework. So if people have made music using this idea, I think it should still count, even if I personally can’t hear it.
I’m happy to go with whatever the consensus is, though, because I don’t really have a strong opinion on what counts as an “equivalence interval” and what doesn’t. --BudjarnLambeth (talk) 02:40, 6 July 2023 (UTC)
