**Octave-reducing** an interval makes it fit into the range from 1/1 (or 1, the [[unisone]]) up to (excluding) 2/1 (the [[octave]]). Intervals higher than 2/1 have to be divided by 2, intervals less than 1/1 have to be multiplied by 2. == Examples == * 3/4 gets [[3_2|3/2]] * 7/2 gets [[7_4|7/4]] * 2/1 gets 1/1 (or simply 1)
