Diploid alpha-dicot is a temperament archetype with a half-octave period, and a generator of a quartertone. In a pure tuning, this is exactly a quarter of 9/8.

Diploid alpha-dicot temperaments usually generate MOS structures with two large steps and many small ones, with reasonable hardness appearing somewhere around 2L 18s. As such, MOS scales can be less than useful in this region.

Intervals and notation

The notation for diploid alpha-dicot is rather complicated, and there are two main options. The generator could be considered a semiaugmented unison or an inframinor second. However, the former is rather more natural.

Temperament interpretations

Perhaps the most typical interpretation of this ploidacot is shrutar. The period is 45/32~64/45, and the generator is 33/32~36/35. 5/4 is found at a period down four generators, 7/4 at a period up seven generators, and 11/8 at a period down one generator. This tunes the generator slightly sharp.
