A ternary scale is deletion-MOS (DMOS) if deleting any step size results in a MOS scale. This is a substantially weaker property than pairwise-MOS: Pairwise-MOS implies deletion-MOS, but the converse is false: billiard scales are DMOS but need not be PMOS, and DMOS scales are a strictly weaker property than billiard scales.
