**** Yeah, this is because there's no JavaScript, since MediaWiki is HTML only. I think [https://www.mediawiki.org/wiki/Extension:Widgets this "Widgets" plugin] is what we will need. I'm not sure if [https://www.mediawiki.org/wiki/Help:Templates#CSS_and_JavaScript_code Templates] will also work, but [https://www.mediawiki.org/wiki/Adding_javascript_to_wiki_pages maybe].
