In the wikispaces era, there were soft redirects and hard redirects, but not regular redirects. After migration to MediaWiki era, the FREEZE engine turned hard redirects to regular redirects, which didn't exist in wikispaces. The MediaWiki hard redirect, which exploits the way interlanguage travel works, does not have a backwards link and is safe to double–redirect (like wikispaces) but is not limited to admins and can link to a section (unlike wikispaces).
