(Although 12EDO attaches importance to primes 17 and 19, even though not for the fifth, so maybe I can pull it off.) I should know, considering I use 159edo frequently, and that system is consistent to the 17-odd-limit. Not only that, but, as you might imagine, 94\159 makes for a pretty good 128/85 while 93\159 makes a superb 3/2. --Aura (talk) 07:34, 15 October 2024 (UTC)
::::::::::::: I will have to train for it. Also, Rameau's Tempérament Ordinaire has its 2 sharp fifths almost equal to the fifth of 22EDO (just a bit under 3 cents sharp of it, if I did my arithmetic right). Hello! It's been a while. I'm now curious as to whether I should split up my current article on functional harmony into different parts, and what other elements I need to cover in terms of the functions of notes versus the functions of chords and stuff such as that. --Aura (talk) 18:01, 6 September 2025 (UTC)
: Well, it is long enough that it probably merits splitting into different parts, although off the top of my head, I am not sure of the best way to organize them.
: For additions, it has been a while since I did a full read-through, so I may have missed something, but in a brief scan to refresh memory, I think of how it seems a bit diatonic-focused (understandably, since so much music is diatonic), so could use more coverage of other scales — the mention of the work of Ivan Wyschnegradsky is a start in that direction. The 24edo works of Ivan Wyschnegradsky are where my earlier questions about temperaments supporting 11L 2s came from, since he explicitly wrote about that. I have also been going down a real rabbit hole trying to figure out what he did with 36edo (is it 17L 2s?), and it has been such a rabbit hole with my guess of 17L 2s that may or may not be right) that I think I ought to call the associated temperament rank-2 clan/family Wonderland (and maybe Kaninchenbau for the related rank-3 clan/family) if I ever get it organized into a decent description of a temperament clan/family (right now, of course, its all fused together with the rest of the stuff in my Musical Mad Science page as one awful unfinished mess that looks like the aftermath of a transporter accident, and it's not the only one of my pages needing reorganization, either).
: And that brings me to a discovery that at first seems like a tangent to your question, but might actually be relevant: I figured out that unlike 11L 2s, 17L 2s has a standard diatonic scale embedded in it, with the whole tones of the diatonic (5L 2s) scale being divided into third-tones, and the diatonic semitone being divided into a third-tone plus a sub-diatonic sixth-tone (alternatively, if you don't divide the diatonic semitone, then you get the parent scale 2L 15s in the range equalized to basic). So that would give you an easy way to transition from diatonic-oriented scale degrees and regions to something beyond.
: Also, since we last corresponded, Levi McClain came out with a video about ancient Greek scales that you might want to see: The Nearly Lost Ancient Scale of Archytas (2025).

== 11L 2s talk page == | |||
Hi Lucius, I wonder if your new topic on Talk:11L 2s would actually be more appropriate as a user page, since it isn't really a discussion about how to improve the page, but rather some personal insight on the topic itself, unless you were specifically asking for feedback or for approval towards merging the contents into the page. --Fredg999 (talk) 04:18, 13 March 2025 (UTC)
: I actually did have the wish to get the concepts (but not the ramble) into the 11L 2s page or a related page (although not one known to me at this time — would presumably be a relevant temperament page, but I can't find one), or I wouldn't have put it into Talk:11L 2s. But right now I haven't thought of a good way to do so — hence to changes to the actual page. But I have also been thinking of making some of my user pages, pending figuring out a good way to organize them, and would certainly be willing to move the contents into one of these, leaving behind a link to such a page as a hint of need to integrate some concepts into the 11L 2s or a related page. Lucius Chiaraviglio (talk) 07:57, 13 March 2025 (UTC)
: . . . More specifically, I would like to see (but have no way to generate) some music examples in 11L 2s like the really good ones in 5L 3s, which also has a link to a page of relevant temperaments. Lucius Chiaraviglio (talk) 11:26, 13 March 2025 (UTC)
: And now I've moved the ramble to a sub-page of my user page, leaving in the part about the diatonicized chromaticism temperament for now, and adding the specific enhancement wish for a Music Samples section on the 11L 2s page itself. This Bryan Deister guy has lots of "microtonal covers". Plz make sure to recognize the original composers for them and place them correspondingly. —FloraC (talk) 10:54, 9 May 2026 (UTC)
: Usually (almost always) the name of the original composer is embedded in his title. Lucius Chiaraviglio (talk) 15:16, 9 May 2026 (UTC)
: . . . But if you want, I will extract that instead of just copying/pasting. Lucius Chiaraviglio (talk) 16:06, 9 May 2026 (UTC)
:: Yeah I think it's best to do a little bit of research on the original works' album/suite and year of release and link them properly. —FloraC (talk) 18:38, 9 May 2026 (UTC)
