Semi-just intonation (SJI) [idiosyncratic term ] is a term coined by CompactStar to refer to the practice of taking the mean (typically geometric mean) of each interval in a just intonation scale and a tempered version of that scale. If both scales are rank-2, then this is equivalent to creating a scale from the mean of the periods and generators of each scale.
