The 9-note MOS Orwell[9] may be considered to be a chord, the [[orwell tetrad|orwell nonad]], so that nothing very disharmonious is likely to arise from any combinations of tones which avoid too many simultaneous semitones. Hence, it is possible to retune a piece in 12edo to Orwell[9] by means of the following scale:
