User:Eliora/Macrofractional temperament

Macrofractional temperament is a fractional-octave temperament where the interval assigned to the fraction of the octave (period) is also a comma of a macrotemperament (exotemperament).

Macrofractional temperaments can be subdivided into pure and partial. Pure macrofractional temperaments have 1\n of the octave mapped to an associated comma, and by default without specifying, macrofractional should refer to pure such temperaments. Partial usually allow some small 2\n, 3\n, etc.

Examples

As such, one may consider in general pairs between fractional temperaments and exotemperaments they "split". For example archytas becomes ruthenium (1\44), meantone becomes barium, and so on.
