An EDQ[idiosyncratic term] (equal division of the quatave) is a type of GPS (geometric pitch sequence) scale. n-edq is a geometric series of pitches starting at 2/1 (1200{{subst:#number_format: {{subst:#expr: 1200 * ln({{subst:#rmatch: 1|^(.*?)[Cc]?$|\1}}) / ln(2)}}|0|.|}}{{subst:#switch: {{subst:#rmatch: 1|^.*?([Cc]?)$|\1}}|c= ¢|C= ¢|#default=}}) and multiplying the previous pitch by 21/n each time. For example, 1edq doubles the pitch each time with the sequence of cent values being {1200, 2400, 4800, 9600...} and sequence of ratios being {2/1, 4/1, 16/1, 256/1...}. The scale type was first described by CompactStar and the name EDQ was coined by R-4981.
