Charles Edward Ives (October 20, 1874 – May 19, 1954) was an American modernist composer.

He is mostly known in the microtonal community for his Three Quarter-Tone Pieces (1923–24).

He also composed Quarter-Tone Chorale for Strings (1914, lost) and Symphony No. 4 (1910 – mid-1920s).
