The '''United Kingdom of Musical Instruments''' is a workdbuild created by MMTM. I am attempting to create a workable foundation based on this.

Apparently MMTM did not give much information so I'd might as well create my own version thereof. The musical system of my UKMI is the same as his UKMI.

==Assumptions used==

According to MMTM, musical instruments in the UKMI have human lives. This possibly means that these instruments are intelligent species (not necessarily of the Homo genus).

In addition, the conworld is apparently set on an alternate Earth.

Hornbostel-Sachs classification will be used, enhanced by made-up Linnaean names for each sentient species.

==History==

This is my version of the UKMI's history.

===Initial settlements in England and France: c.a. 1540-1600===

An unknown English magician accidentally made the entirety of Henry VIII's inventory of musical instruments to life, causing them to run out of the castle and migrate to form their own settlement independent of the Englishmen. There is a consensus amongst archaeologists that this first settlement is originally in Kent.

The single cornett, harpsichord, taberde, and the unknown instrument with a wheel seem to have all died of old age in around the late 1570s. Meanwhile, the second generation of musical instruments took a boat through the English Channel to northern France. All survived and none died.

===Migration to mainland Europe in the early Baroque, c.a. 1600-1650===

During this period, the Les Vingt-quatre Violons du Roi was formed, but it was quickly disbanded one year later when it was discovered that their instruments came to life as well. The magician responsible for this was only known as Picard in historical records. However, the French group did not know of the English group of instruments until much later, until they met in Hauts-de-France around 1645.

The First Treaty of the European Musical Instruments was formed between the English and the French groups in an order to create peace within the instrumental groups and within instrument types themselves.

==Intelligent species==

The most populous species are the ''Violis gambae'' (viol family) and the ''Violis cremonae'' (violin family) by a large margin. Both species (and their size variants) have a lifespan of about 25 years. Their corpses can live for many times longer under the right conditions.
