Neutral Thirds (compressed) Lumatone mappings
17edo (demonstrated to work)
A neutral thirds Lumatone mapping of intermediate compression is available for 17edo, with a 3L 1s scale having a 5:2 step ratio, as shown in Bryan Deister's 17edo improv (2026-08-10). The range is just under 8½ octaves, with the octaves close enough to level and just not quite enough repeated notes to split this layout into two complete manuals.

Fog-Related Neutral Seconds Lumatone mappings
63edo (demonstrated to work)
In 63edo, it is possible to divide the octave into three parts, each 21\63 being a mildly sharp fwiwismic major third ~44/35 (or more accurately but less practically, a near-just undetricesimal major third ~29/23), with a 3L 3s scale (13:8 step ratio), similar to fog. Unlike actual fog, the generator is a slightly flat undecimal neutral second ~12/11, with the layout being designed for easy access to intervals that are close to common consonant intervals, but different (including the generator itself). The range is over five octaves, which is too much to include all of the notes in a standard-sized Lumatone. Despite the missing notes, Bryan Deister has used this mapping in 63edo improv (2026-08-03), with the xenharmonic intervals forming a sound flavor that seems both Gaelic and Middle-Eastern.

63edo (demonstrated to work)
Since 63edo is a multiple of 7edo, it can be used with a mapping that divides the octave into seven parts in the manner of whitewood, but with more accuracy due to having a much better fifth; in this case, the actual temperament is related to sevond, but unlike actual sevond, it uses a near-just septimal minor second ~7/6 as its generator, which is 1/7-octave-reduced from 14\63 to 5\63. The 1/7-octave (9\63) is mapped most practically as a slightly flat undevicesimal submajor second ~21/19, resulting in the reduced generator (5\63) being a slightly sharp large undevicesimal semitone ~19/18. Bryan Deister has used this mapping in 63edo double improv (2026). The range is 4⅓ octaves (with only one repeated note in each octave), which slope upwards with the rows.

34edo (demonstrated to work)
It is possible to accommodate both kleismic (stacking classic minor thirds) and würschmidt (stacking classic major thirds) temperaments in a 34edo mapping by using a rotated 3L 1s scale (9:7 step ratio), as demonstrated in 34edo bossa (2026). This mapping puts both the classic minor third ~6/5 and the classic major third ~5/4 (both just slightly sharp) right next to both the root note and the fifth ~3/2, as 9\34 (one key down-right) and 11\34 (one key right), respectively. This comes at the cost of missing some notes (including some instances of note 0) due to trying to get too much range (close to ten octaves) to fit them all on a standard-sized Lumatone, as well as causing the octaves to alternate between near and far. (Note that in the demo video, the range appears far less due to mapping of only a single MIDI channel.)

Bohpier Lumatone mappings
41edo (demonstrated to work
Since 41edo is very close to BPS (Bohlen–Pierce–Stearns) with its generator split into 5 equal parts and the addition of prime 2, it makes sense to map it for bohpier temperament, as demonstrated by Bryan Deister in 41edo improv (2026-09-01). The generator 5\41 (reached very simply by moving one key right from the root note) functions as a flat undecimal neutral second ~12/11 and a sharp lesser tridecimal neutral second ~13/12. The range is somewhat over 4½ octaves, although the octaves slope down severely, incurring vertical wraparounds.

19edo (demonstrated to work)
19edo (2 mappings demonstrated to work)
19edo notably does not have a neutral third, and thus no neutral thirds mapping. The closest thing to a neutral thirds mapping is Bryan Deister's mappings that support temperaments Clyde (a Hanson sub-temperament) using 5\19 as its generator that functions as a near-just classic minor third ~6/5; Negri using a minor second 2\19 that functions as flat ~13/12, near-just ~14/13, moderately sharp ~15/14, and (key for Negri) sharp ~16/15 (the classical diatonic semitone); and Sensei (a sub-temperament of Sensi) using 7\19 (a supermajor third) as a generatorthat functions as moderately sharp ~9/7 (key for Sensi), flat ~13/10, very flat ~21/16, and very sharp ~32/25.

Bryan Deister has demonstrated a mapping for 19edo that supports both a 9L 1s scale, as in Negri temperament, and an 8L 3s scale, as in Clyde and Sensei temperaments, in both cases with a 2:1 step ratio, in 19edo improv (2025). The Negri generator 2\19 (a minor second) is very simple in key movements, being one step right from the root note; this functions as flat ~13/12, near-just ~14/13, moderately sharp ~15/14, and (key for Negri) sharp ~16/15 (the classical diatonic semitone). The generator for Clyde (a Hanson sub-temperament) is 5\19 (a near-just classic minor third ~6/5); reaching it requires movement two keys right from the root note plus one key up or (preferably) down-right. The generator for Sensei (a sub-temperament of Sensi is 7\19 (a supermajor third) that functions as moderately sharp ~9/7 (key for Sensi), flat ~13/10, very flat ~21/16, and very sharp ~32/25; reaching it requires movement three keys right from the root note plus one key up or (preferably) down-right. The range is just over three octaves (although they are almost perfectly level), but on the other hand, if one is willing to trade out easy playing of Negri, this mapping enables division into three complete middle manuals plus a nearly complete bottom manual plus a partial top manual (and other permutations could be enabled by moving the root note and/or the divisions between manuals).
Forward chroma (expanded)
In the forward chroma version, demonstrated in Bryan Deister's 19edo improv (2025), the Clyde generator 5\19 requires movement two keys right from the root note plus one key up or (preferably) down-right; the Negri generator 2\19 is very simple in key movements, being one step right from the root note; and the 7\19 generator for Sensei requires movement three keys right from the root note plus one key up or (preferably) down-right. Supported scales are 8L 3s for Clyde and Sensei and 9L 1s for Negri, both having a 2:1 step ratio.

Reverse chroma
Last modified: Lucius Chiaraviglio (talk) 09:29, 21 December 2025 (UTC)

In the reverse chroma version, demonstrated in Bryan Deister's 19edo groove (2026), the chroma is the meantone major second (flat ~9/8, sharp ~10/9); the Clyde generator 5\19 is now very simple at one key down-right; the Negri generator 2\19 is also very simple at one key right; and the Sensi super-major third generator 7\19 is also simple at one key right plus one key down-right. This mapping supports a 3L 2s scale (moving down and right and octaves sloping down accordingly) and a 1L 7s scale (moving right and octaves sloping gently upwards just slightly less than the rows), both having a 5:2 step ratio; if a bit of backtracking is acceptable, the latter scale can be extended to 1L 8s (3:1 step ratio) or even 9L 1s (2:1 step ratio). This tends to favor a very xenharmonic type of playing; however, the number of repeated notes is enough so that if a meantone pentatonic scale (2L 3s, 5:3 step ratio) is needed, it is available proceeding downwards and slightly right, with somewhat less chance of a vertical wraparound than with the forward chroma version. The range is just over six octaves, which for some purposes more than makes up for the strange reverse chroma layout and the lack of options for multiple manuals.

It is possible to compress neutral thirds for 17edo down to a 1L 2s scale with a 7:5 step ratio, (or with a bit of backtracking, 3L 1s with a 5:2 step ratio), as shown in Bryan Deister's 17edo improv (2026-07-21). The octaves slope downwards gently, with the range including eleven complete octaves (although it appears less in the demo video due to mapping to just one MIDI channel), making it tempting to divide this layout horizontally into zones for different instruments.

Sensipent (1/5-Octave) + Malcolmismic Pseudo-Pinetone (1/5-Octave) Lumatone mappings
65edo (demonstrated to work)
Bryan Deister has demonstrated a rotated sensipent mapping, in which the 3L 5s (10:7 step ratio) scale proceeds up and somewhat right (usually incurring a vertical wraparound), and a 5L 5s scale (10:3 step ratio) proceeds right and down-right with the 1/5 division of the octave (13\65), in 65edo improv (2026). In accordance with sensipent harmony, the 1/5 division of the octave (13\65, one key right plus one key down-right) functions as both a near-just (only slightly sharp) tricesimoprimal ultramajor second ~31/27, as well as a near-just (only slightly flat) vicesimotertial inframinor third ~23/20. The normal 31-limit (or even 2.3.5.31 subgroup) sensipent generator 24\65 functions as both a near-just (practically perfect) tricesimoprimal ultramajor third ~31/24 and a near-just (only slightly sharp) tricesimoprimal supermajor third ~40/31. This is most simply 1/5-octave-reduced to the familiar near-just (only slightly flat) Pythagorean whole tone ~9/8. Alternatively (and easier to reach), the generator 10\65 (one key right, functioning as a slightly sharp classic whole tone ~10/9) can be used as a generator; although it is not co-prime with 65edo, it is co-prime with the 1/5-octave; this is like a weak extension of pinetone (again with the 1/5 division of the octave), but tempering out the malcolmisma 171/170 instead of the porcupine comma 250/243. This mapping is maximally efficient, with a range just under 4⅛ octaves with no missed notes and no repeated notes, although the octaves slope down severely and wrap around vertically.
