Different kinds of redirects

Regular redirect:

#REDIRECT [[Page]]

Hard redirect:

#REDIRECT [[:en:Page]]

See Wiki help#Redirects. PiotrGrochowski (talk) 07:12, 21 September 2018 (UTC)

Had no idea this existed. Keenan Pepper (talk) 07:13, 21 September 2018 (UTC)
In the wikispaces era, there were soft redirects and hard redirects, but not regular redirects. After migration to MediaWiki era, the FREEZE engine turned hard redirects to regular redirects, which didn't exist in wikispaces. The MediaWiki hard redirect, which exploits the way interlanguage travel works, does not have a backwards link and is safe to double–redirect (like wikispaces) but is not limited to admins and can link to a section (unlike wikispaces). PiotrGrochowski (talk) 07:22, 21 September 2018 (UTC)
Compare [1] before migration and Wiki help#Redirects after migration. PiotrGrochowski (talk) 07:24, 21 September 2018 (UTC)
Modus and JI are now hard redirects as you intended. PiotrGrochowski (talk) 07:28, 21 September 2018 (UTC)
I didn't want that though, since I hadn't heard of them. By "hard" I just meant "not soft". Keenan Pepper (talk) 07:30, 21 September 2018 (UTC)

Edt impressions

Keenan's EDO impressions is a nice page, and I'm curious what are your opinions on edts. Have you tried 4edt, 5edt and/or 6edt, which have some consonances while being more macrotonal than 5edo? PiotrGrochowski (talk) 17:33, 28 September 2018 (UTC)

They sound crazy to me because I'm a simple man and can't really internalize music without octaves (although I could talk about their theory all day). It's not for lack of trying. Keenan Pepper (talk) 03:51, 30 September 2018 (UTC)

EDO Impressions

Hello there, I know you've been around before, but I've never had any reason to interact with you before, but seeing that you were online, I figured I'd give it a shot. I joined this site in August, and I've been doing my share of work- trying to explore the 11-limit, naming commas, working with 159edo and stuff like that. Like you, I don't think I can really internalize music without octaves, and I ended up making my own EDO impressions page... I hope you like what you see from my work- even though it's admittedly incomplete... --Aura (talk) 21:47, 2 December 2020 (UTC)

When using a bot

... it's much better to do the work in an associated bot account. When doing this as a normal user, Special:RecentChanges get cluttered. --Xenwolf (talk) 22:29, 4 December 2020 (UTC)

It's not actually a bot, but a UI-based tool that allows me to do category moves as one action. I'll try creating a "bot" account so they can be filtered though, let me see... —Keenan Pepper (talk) 22:31, 4 December 2020 (UTC)
Okay how's this? Seems like they are not showing up on Recent Changes anymore, and this also seems safer because the second account doesn't have admin privileges. —Keenan Pepper (talk) 22:48, 4 December 2020 (UTC)
Much better now! BTW: Are you planning to write an article about 41503/41472? --Xenwolf (talk) 22:58, 4 December 2020 (UTC)
No, I created that for somebody on Facebook who was trying to create it and running into technical errors. Seems you can't use the visual editor on pages whose title contains a slash. But the source editor works fine for me so I don't know what was going on for that person. —Keenan Pepper (talk) 22:59, 4 December 2020 (UTC)

How exactly did you (or User:Keenan Pepper category edits) enable Cat-a-lot? --Xenwolf (talk) 22:00, 5 December 2020 (UTC)

I typed something into the Chrome developer console to load an external script. This means I have to redo it every time I load a (category) page that I want to use it on - if I felt like making it even easier I'd use something like Tampermonkey to load it automatically. —Keenan Pepper (talk) 17:33, 7 December 2020 (UTC)

Keenanisma

Hey, Keenan, who was the Keenanisma named for, you or Dave Keenan? Sorry, I have to ask... --Aura (talk) 23:27, 4 December 2020 (UTC)

Pretty sure that was Dave Keenan. In general stuff named "Keenan" is him whereas stuff named "Pepper" (e.g. Peppermint-24, Pepperoni) is me. —Keenan Pepper (talk) 23:28, 4 December 2020 (UTC)
Good to know... Me? I would rather not name commas after myself- I mean, I named the quartisma, the nexus comma, the symbiotic comma, the Alpharabian comma and the Betarabian comma, and the only one I really named after someone was the Alpharabian comma, with the name "Betarabian" being a derivative of "Alpharabian". -Aura (talk) 23:31, 4 December 2020 (UTC)
I haven't named anything after myself... the few things named after me were named by other people. "Alpharabian" is named after Al-Farabi? —Keenan Pepper (talk) 23:33, 4 December 2020 (UTC)
Yes. Read the linked article to see why I gave it that name. Oh, and I should mention that I had Sam's help for one of the names of the nexus comma, so there's that. --Aura (talk) 23:35, 4 December 2020 (UTC)

Composition

I'm curious, what kinds of microtonal songs to you like to write? --Aura (talk) 23:53, 4 December 2020 (UTC)

If you wanna just shoot the shit I suggest a more real-time medium such as google hangout chat. My username is "keenanpepper". I tend to assume wiki messages are about the wiki. —Keenan Pepper (talk) 23:57, 4 December 2020 (UTC)
Are you on reddit by chance? --Aura (talk) 23:59, 4 December 2020 (UTC)
Yes, also keenanpepper. —Keenan Pepper (talk) 23:59, 4 December 2020 (UTC)
My username on reddit is DaffodilAura218- my Xbox username which is the source of my name on here. --Aura (talk) 00:02, 5 December 2020 (UTC)
Perhaps we can talk about music and stuff there if you message me... --Aura (talk) 00:03, 5 December 2020 (UTC)

Epic Table 2

Do you see any value left in Epic Table 2? I have a strong feeling that it doesn't really fit in the wiki. --Xenwolf (talk) 18:55, 26 February 2022 (UTC)
