New page

-4: uninteresting

very tangy, good structure. 5-form is important, but by nature 5edo loses most of the interesting properties of various 5-form scales

not bad actually, i like that it's attested in a lot of music

similar situation to 5, it's just dusty and rounded instead of spiky and sour.

there's cool stuff in 8-form but 8edo is just cluttered 6edo lowkey

never found reason to use this edo, never heard anything i liked in it

also better as a scale form than an edo, for me. but i know very little about 10edo actually

 cold, clear, alien

actually really good. there's basically no world where the smallest edo to have a consonant 3/2 isn't important to some degree

 dark, macabre

really cool i just wish 3/2 was better. very significant for having sin, neu & saj 3rds, i forget whether it's literally the first such edo but i like it for that reason, and because i've heard good music in it.

seems interesting but i haven't heard much in it

my beloveddd. big strong bright 3/2s, very cheerful quintal chords, a very suave sin7, lovely neu2nds, flavorful tritones. a well behaved glimpse of 2.3.7.11.13, and for JI sticklers we still have a nice 2.3.13.23

ehhh. in my book it's never worth sacrificing 3/2 for 5/4. 3/2 is just so fundamental and 5-limit stuff is really optional, you can take it or leave it

the diatonic is like, so terrible, and the 3/2 is severely sharp, but i think there is interesting stuff in here, just haven't tried it yet. you'll notice that i'm being harsher on larger edos for a lack of JI, this is because i don't see much of a point in using like 16+ notes and having to fight tooth and nail for consonance as if you were in a much smaller edo.

you're fighting against just returning to 12 at every turn and for most of the new sounds you would be better served by 17 or 19

much more charming than i would expect. i haven't done tons with it but i quite like it

probably next on my list to get familiar with once i'm comfortable with 17. seems nice

undeniably cool but the 3/2 is not awesome for me, i prefer a sharp 3/2 over flat

pretty nice, but getting big enough that you have to use a subset

beyond this point you're better off using free pitch or ji, imo. edos higher than this are theoretical objects
