== Name for "Transversal" ==
The transversals listed here are technically NOT the lowest-complexity JI dyads for each interval class, because I'm calling the neutral second 12/11 instead of 9/8. I sort of unofficially tended towards something like a "lowest-badness" transversal, where for each class I picked the JI dyad that is lowest in complexity but not too high in error. You could probably formalize this concept mathematically if you want.

Is "transversal" still a good name for this?

There's no requirement for lowest complexity, just that mavila maps the JI interval to the corresponding mavila note.

You can actually name the mavila[5] modes whatever you want. Ding, dong, deng, dung, dang are just the solmization syllables, like do re mi... "Patet" is mostly used in Javanese music and means something like "key" or "mode" (or "raga" or "maqam"...)

If it helps, note that it's pronounced like "doong" rather than the English word "dung".

== Moved to Modal Harmony ==
We're doing something similar for porcupine now, so I moved this to "Mavila Temperament Modal Harmony."

Right now it just has the names for the modes, without much harmony, so it's a work in progress. I hope to eventually work out the MODMOS's of mavila, and add them as well. Also, I'd like to name the modes on the Porcupine modal harmony page too. Also also, I'd like to at some point give tables of the chord qualities that are available in each mode, which will be easier once I finish wrapping my head around Gene's tablets.

But until then we'll move as fast as we can on it, and slowly but surely all of these pages will converge on the same thing.

Under construction, I plan on providing an introductory to Mavila scales along with a list of the modes of the 5, 7, and 9 note MOS mavila scales, along with some useful MODMOS mavila scales.

I'm thinking I might name the pentatonic and/or nonatonic MOS scales after numbers in the Chopi language. Can someone help me find more information on the language?

If that dosen't work out I'll have to get a little more creative with my naming scheme, which might not be a bad thing.
