Create Page.

New page

A 15-odd-limit bihexany. This creates a scale of 1 35/32 9/8 7/6 135/112 5/4 9/7 45/32 3/2 45/28 7/4 15/8 2/1, with steps of 35/32 36/35 28/27 405/392 28/27 36/35 35/32 16/15 15/14 49/45 15/14 16/15. While still mildly lopsided, this is massively improved from its base hexany as the ratio between the largest and smallest steps is only approximately 3.2:1 and 6 of the notes have perfect fifths above them to create stable chords with, although they are not always 7 steps above their roots, which may make playing this on an ordinary keyboard slightly less intuitive than expected. Of particular interest is that the root note has justly tuned subminor, major and supermajor chords above it, as well as an 8 cent sharp minor third that is still closer to 6/5 than the 12edo approximation, making it very flexible in terms of creating different moods while still functioning as a stable centre to the scale.
