Create Page.

New page

The second simplest possible Hexany, offset by a large major second or minor seventh. This creates a scale of 1 10/9 9/8 5/4 4/3 40/27 3/2 5/3 16/9 15/8 2/1, with steps of 10/9 81/80 10/9 16/15 10/9 81/80 10/9 16/15 135/128 16/15. This is the most complex of three different ways of expanding the base hexany out that has two duplicated notes, reducing it to a 10 note scale. Like the 1-3-5-9 by 10/9 bihexany, this is an 8 note chain of fifths where two of the notes have variants a syntonic comma apart that let you evade or accentuate dissonance, letting you translate most common practice music to it. However, in this one the doubled notes are adjacent to each other on the chain of fifths instead of being 3 steps apart, giving you different kinds of dissonances if you use the wrong one of the doubled steps in chords. If you want a scale that has the same pattern, but extends it to a full 12 notes, you need the 1-3-5-9 by 32/27 bihexany.
